The Book of 1 Samuel, Chapter 17 The Old Testament
David was the son of Jesse. He was the youngest of eight sons. When David was young he would feed his father’s sheep in Bethlehem. During this time, the Israelites were fighting with the Philistines under King Saul’s reign. The Israelites were scared of Goliath who was a Philistine. Because David had faith in God he told King Saul, let me fight against Goliath! King Saul said you’re a child and he is an adult. He finally let David fight Goliath. David took a stone out of his bag and slung it and struck the Philistine in his forehead and he fell on his face and Goliath died. David trusted God to be by his side and he won! David later become King after King Saul died.
1 Samuel 17:37 Moreover David said, God, who delivered me from the paw of the lion and from the paw of the bear. He will deliver me from the hand of the Philistine.
